I know Medium doesn’t distribute stories about Medium, BUT that does not mean that they don’t do well, I have had stories about Medium receive thousands of views and distributed stories only receive a few hundred.

I know distribution isn’t everything here. In fact, this very story you are commenting on is my best performing story of the week and it’s, of course, not distributed.

Why do you think so many pubs are Medium centric? Because writers here care about what’s going on and there is always something going on.

In the last 2 weeks I have published 10 stories, one politics story, 2 history, one true crime, one short form, one news/celebrity, one society piece and as you pointed out two pieces about Medium.

I have had some of my lowest numbers since I joined Medium in the spring.

All I can say is I hope new writers heed my warning because I see a huge correlation between me having a Medium pause and my stats dropping off. As my bio says, learn from history!
